in 650+ flavour....has anyone squeezed anything reasonably fast rolling with a decent sidewall into a mk2? I think my trailblazer is just about done and want something a little more resilient.

Any joy with Rocket Ron 2.8? or is it too wide (given how skinny the trailblazer is for its stated width).

thanks

Always ran conti mountain king ii's on my mk2. Loved them and they weren't slow rolling at all.

Edit: Ah, just saw the "+" 🙁

Watching with interest.

Why not ask Cotic though?

When I asked Cotic about the clearance for the mk1 Cy said a 2.8 Ranger would fit on i35s, but it would be 'summer only' mud clearance and to expect the odd bit of tyre rub.

I understand the mk2 has a bit more, so perhaps generally OK with 2.8s but not 3.0s?

I've had a 2.8 Ron in the back of my mk2 (with 30mm internal rim). It fits fine with about 4mm of clearance on the chainstays. If you're riding it in mud I'd put a bit of heli-tape on to preserve the paint, otherwise it will be fine. Have also used an ikon which is a tiny bit smaller but the casing is a bit tougher imo.

Hi
Running a 2.8Nobby Nic on the back of mine for a few weeks with no issues.
Wouldn't put anything bigger on it though
Cheers

Rocket Ron ran well on mine. Slightly narrower than NN and faster rolling. Slight rub when riding across a steepish slope (wheel flex).

Cheers guys. I erroneously bought a 3,0 Ron when I bought the bike. That certainly didn't fit!

I'll probably give the 2.8 a go.

Just to resurrect this thread. Wondered if there were any more thoughts or options?

Considering the WTB Ranger

Or The Rocket Ron / Nobby Nic

Does 2.8 safely fit in the Cotic Solaris (non boost) v2?

How do the 2.6's Schwalbes come up? A safer option...unless they are quite small and you lose the benefit of plus?

I've seen Rekons at non eye watering prices recently too...so that was my other option

When I asked Cy about clearance about a year ago I was told 2.8" as max. Unfortunately I can't recall which actual tyre though.... 😳

You must have a mk2 in your extensive library of 29er hardtails?

without any buzz on hard corners?

3.0 Bombolloni doesnt
- I made the same mistake with a Rocket Ron. Wasn't even close to fitting.

Hehe, I did ponder chibbin Cy to see if he had a large mk11 knocking about the warehouse somewhere but decided a set of 29er Boost wheels was going to be the sensible choice
