Since a few of the Cotic bikes are out in ‘Longshot’ geometry and the current RocketMax stock looks to be the last of the old batch does anyone have any info on a new model?
Longer, lower and slacker are probably a given?
Steeper Seat tube?
Colours? Anyone got a sneak peek?
I asked the question while I was emailing about demos of the Rocket Longshot - late August for the new one, apparently.
I recently bought a current Rocket Max when they discounted them a few months ago. I was holding out for the Longshot for no other reason than to get the latest and 'greatest', but with the discount on offer for the current model, it was too good to miss. I'd already taken one for a test ride and it was great whichever way you cut it so can't imagine the Longshot being massively better - maybe better in some areas at the expense of others so depends what you're after. I can't imagine it would be better to the tune of the discount that was on offer. So far not been disappointed.
At the time I did enquire about the Longshot version and they said late summer at the earliest as they were still working on the Longshot Solaris at the time...so now that is out I guess they're just starting on the Longshot Rocket Max.
Well there's also the Longshot Flare to get out, which I've heard whispers will be around in August.
Still some bargain current gen RocketMAX left.
New one is happening. No firm date yet. All going very well getting it ready though.
= :87)
How about the Flare timeframes, Kelvin? I’m demoing the FlareMax on Saturday but am probably more intrigued by the smaller wheeled version. TIA.
Yeah Kelvin, I'm desperately waiting for the LS Flare. Everytime I get an email from you I get giddy only to be disappointed 😁
I don't know the timeframes, sorry. Cy will let mailing list people know as soon as there is a date, so I'd probably only know 24 hours before you do.
I do currently expect the RocketMAX to be available before the Flare.
Very, very upsetting 😥 😀
Thanks Kelvin.
dont worry Fathomer, it’ll be worth the wait for us both 😉
Thanks for chiming in Kelvin. Would be great if there was even an approximate date for the bikes availability. As you an see there's a few folk interested....
Keep us posted!
Surely we must be getting close to the new Rocket MAX now? Bumping this thread in the hope of getting a bit more info.
I'd had dreams of riding one in the summer dust - but I guess it will still work in the autumn mud...
If you're on the Cotic mailing list, check your emails...!!
Just about to say.....there's emails flying about 😉
That's a huge reach! And water bottle bosses too.
Heard it was coming this week, they just squeaked it in at the last moment, eh?
Where's that geometry chart though lads?
Where’s that geometry chart though lads?
There's one in here…
Yeah someone pointed me to it now cheers Kelvin, thanks.
Looks like a hell of a bike. Is the top tube profile different to the previous bikes? Appears more tapered to my eyes.
Latest generation of frames have much more manipulated top tubes, yes…

For goodness sake stop bringing out new bikes. I mean, I'm never going to be brave enough to need one of these but that doesn't help.
Looks awesome. Any chance of UKish made flare max?

UK production process used is only suitable for a small number of frames; no intention @ Cotic to move any existing models away from Taiwan. New batches of FlareMAX and Rocket are currently being built… due to land via boat before the year is out.

New flare though...
Info mentions loads of standover - any figures for the standover anywhere?
My FlareMax is already far more bike than I'll ever need, but I bet that's a beast in the right hands. Good to see they are still trying to bring some manufacturing back to the UK, despite getting their fingers burnt last time. Hope this goes well for them.
Just to be clear. When I say they “got their fingers burnt”, this isn’t based on any inside knowledge and I don’t mean to imply any fault on any side. I just recall that, for whatever reasons, they ended up with some customers having to wait a long while for their rockets, which wasn’t great PR.

Yup, that was me. Well, didn't get it all in the end. They handled it well though so they're still at the top of the list for 'new bikes I would like'. Got a demo day soon- mainly to see how the new Solaris lines up to my mk1+Angleset, but looking for a go on the flare max too. Slightly hoping it's not that exciting as I really don't need the temptation!

Funny enough I did exactly the same thing last week, here's something I wrote about it, if you're interested...

That was interesting, cheers. Two riding mates have both bought the new Solaris, but one is a large and the other a small- pretty sure I want a medium. They both feel good, but not right. To be fair, I think the large would.probably make me a very good hooligan bike but it just felt 'big' for the mix of riding I want it for.
It's up against my existing Solaris so there's some tough competition. One problem may be the colour- I really wanted a green one as I nearly got that for the mk1 and settled on the blue instead.
The flare max is more of a long term option.
You thinking 29er or B-plus or both?
The HR2 plus tyres were a revelation to me, already bought a pair in preparation. Got 29in wheels too of course.
