Real First world problem here - what colour roadrat?

Yellow is out. Yuck Not sure about British Racing Green with the orange decals? Orange would be nice but that's the same colour as my Soul. And likely to attract the attention of the wife. Gunmetal? I can't see what it looks like on the photos. How gloss is gloss??

Shame they stopped the duck egg blue.

No. I've looked at the yellow. It's yucky.
I did have a yellow Heavy Tools Dual frame many years ago. My friends bullied me.

Getting nowhere with this. My brother suggest yellow (no) or green. But he's ginger, so used to looking at garish colours meaning his opinion doesn't count.
Wife thinks gunmetal. Looking at the roadrat vs the escapade one is "gunmetal" the other is silver? Why on earth did Cotic decide to photograph it in the dark?!

Anyone got a gunmetal cotic with photos of it in the daylight?

I'm just building a yellow Soul 275 - I think your brother is right. It's Pantone 109C if that would help 😀

I have to agree that the photos in the dark don't help. The yellow Soul in the warehouse looks much nicer IMHO.

Mine was poo brown. All your colours are irrelevant.

Many years ago I had a custom frame built (Reynolds 531 tubing). When it came to colour I looked through the options and settled on gunmetal. The builder thought I was mad until he built it up, somehow it just seemed right.

I think both the Cotic yellow and gunmetal look good, I'd be happy with either.

I've got a poo brown one - the dark poo brown variety. I quite like it and being that colour it's not going to get nicked! I fancy a Champaign Escapade, if I thought i could sell the Poo brown Roadrat I would, but i'll probably keep it and convert it into some form of 27.5+ gravel/pub/doss about bike.

Plus wheels wouldn't fit a Road rat. .... would they?

It's still poo brown and it's still getting me to work every day! It gets the odd holiday, planning on taking it on a trip down the Loire this summer.

I prefer 'espresso'....

Shame they stopped the duck egg blue.

Indeed, saw one in a bike shop and it was lovely

I like my BRgreen one. It's sort of greeny. The orange writing looks good. But I peeled the Cotic sticker off the downtube and then covered it in camo/penguin Duck tape.

No chance. Cotic say 29x1.75 (47c) fits but Scwalbe Smart Sams didn't fit in mine so I've had to go 42c on the back.
I suppose you might fit a 27.5x2.0 but nothing bigger.

I'd assumed this meant the 'road plus' thing- 40 something tyres on 650b rims being about the same size as a 700c 20something. Which I find amusing as a 'new' thing, given that the original roadrat had it in the spec list (and probably others before)

I'm mulling a Roadrat purchase and miss the duck egg option, too. I'll probably go for a gunmetal one.

I converted my current duck egg Escapade to a flat-bar commuter / wide-tyred dad bike / tourer. While it looks great and is certainly sprightly around town, I do think I need the extra 3cm in the top tube that a Roadrat would give... it's just a bad time for me with home building works taking up bike fettling time!

Is possible to get 'overlooked spaghetti' colour? Coz that's what it's like to ride... Bradoom - Tish! 🙂

I didn't realise 'road plus' was a thing!

I've got Sammy Slicks on mine with plenty of space to spare - so I could go bigger than that - maybe not full fat 27.5+ but definately chunkier than my Sammy Sliks. There are some pretty rough canal paths near me that I could use to commute to work on to get me off the roads, but they're a bit too harsh with my current wheel and tyre combo.

Yellow.

You've got an orange one.
Grey people buy grey bikes (coprophiles buy brown ones, obv) and the green looks dull.

It's spring, it's yellow, get used to it.

Saw a gunmetal one today, parked my duck egg one next to it. Think I prefer the gun metal one!

Now I know what 'Road plus' is (650bx47c), yes it will fit a Roadrat and Escapade.
WTB's compatible bikes list.

I'm not sure why you'd bother changing wheel size when you can already fit a 700x47c slick, though. I know I said 47c Smart Sams didn't fit- they did 'fit' but there was no mud clearance at all. Running the axle further back in the dropouts would help.

My thinking on the smaller wheel size was that for a given width I could run a higher profile tyre assuming the same outer diameter as a 700C wheel.

Snywhat on colour I think the Gunmetal with bright Orange grips. The yellow is a bit too lary (I never liked the look of Ferarris in yellow) but I guess it depends on how extrovert you are.

Maybe consider a nice nod to Lotus would be a BRG frame and yellow forks assuming you can mix and match frame and fork colours?
