Hi,

I am looking at the current Cotic Escapade which looks so beautiful and everything about it is just right. My only question is, if 700x45mm tyres would somehow fit in there?

I know Cotic says 42 is the max it takes at the rear, but i would like to have a word from someone who actually owns one and could tell me or at the best post a picture of the clearance.

Also if someone wants to sell theirs in L, HMU 🙂

No way you will get a genuine 45mm in there, I've only ever managed 38mm.

Ive got an email from Cy somewhere stating which 42mm they refer to.

The 42s I tried were all too big.

Have two frames to sell but not large ones I am afraid.

here you go

"We put a 700x42 Conti CX Race tyre in there, and we recently got a 700x44 WTB Byway in too, but a 700x40 WTB Nano doesn't fit. Unfortunately tyre sizing is very inconsistent"

A 42mm Gravel Grinder does not fit either.

@peteimpreza, you have an Escalade frame for sale? What size/colour?

thats so disappointing! no wonder why they use semi-slick tyres on the builds shown on their website.

I asked them the same question. Cotic emailed me back saying a 42c WTB Resolute was about as big as you could get.

thanks for the feedback! Good to know.

Would be nice to see how it would "fit". if there would be some mud clearance or its just a more or less theoretical statement.

I've got 40c WTB Nanos on mine (older green model) and it's really tight against the seat tube, only a few mm in it. The newer frames might be a bit more spacious though.

I ran mine with 40c nanos on 700 alpkit rims for a good number of yrs. they were perfectly fine clearance wise. Wouldn’t have wanted to (couldn’t realistically) go any bigger though.

Mine was the 2015 duck egg blue model. Cy said that the clearance on the later model was the same (this was a before the latest model just came out perhaps?) as I was looking to fit some wider 650’s at the time.

Anyone know what the clearance would be like with full mudguards? Would a 37/38 fit?
