what do people think of the Escapade?

I've currently got a CdF which I like but it has limited clearance (especially at the front wheel). I also have a Kaff which I built up (basically to see how easy it was to put a bike together). The Kaff is currently set up as a audax bike with a triple and BB7s. I don't want to increase the number of bikes i have but would like to be able to venture a bit more off road and have something which has better clearances - enter the Escapade into the thought process.

Currently thinking is to strip the Kaff, flog the frame and put the triple bits on the CdF to make this into the 'roadie/light tourer', and get a Escapade frame and put the bits off the CdF onto it (although I will probably play around with the gearing at a later date).

any thoughts?

I have had an escapade now for coming up to 12 months. First bike of its type that I've owned. Set up with sram shifters, sram x9 mtb mech with clutch and 1 x 10 gearing. Good amounts of clearance although I'm just running 32 cross tyres. The Qr bolt through set up and horizontal rear drop outs are alive bit of a pain but that's the only real negative. Otherwise a very comfortable bike and most my rides end up being 50/50 on and off road.

How difficult is it to get a normal QR hub into the Escapade fork? Also bump for interest

I'm running a normal Qr skewer. The drop outs are closed so even with the Qr you have to unthread the nut. It's just a bit of a pain to 'spring' open the forks and get the disk in the caliper as by springing open the forks it moves the caliper slightly off line. Luckily though mines tubeless and it fits in the car with the front wheel on. It's certainly not a deal breaker but less convenient than the bolt thrus of most modern forks.

My thought process has totally stalled.

Still keen on something with better clearance than the CdF for light off road adventures (e.g. Escapade or similar). But which frame to keep for road/audax stuff - Kaff or CdF?

I bet I'll still be deciding this time next year!

To add to the mix what about a planet x London Road frame?
