Hi chaps,
At 5'11 I'm struggling to figure out what size BFe I should be riding. I currently ride a large Evil Insurgent, which is pretty similar sizing to the Medium BFe, maybe a couple of mm longer.
But, with the benefits of sizing up, I'm not sure whether I should be on a large.
The medium is 449mm reach, with a low'ish stack, the large is 475mm reach with a pretty normal stack.
Generally, I'm going to be using the BFe for longer hill rides, a bit more XC than what I ride with the Evil.
I've asked Cotic, and around on the Cotic forums, which mixed responses!
Anyone riding a medium or large BFe or Soul?
Cheers
Ricks
around on the Cotic forums,
Sorry to drift off topic but as a bit of a fanboi I feel I'm missing out on something here.
Cotic forums = Cotic Facebook groups !
I'm 5ft 10" and ride a medium BFE (gen5) and find its spot on for reach etc..
Thanks Rickon. Thought I was missing out but I have up FB a while back.
Hope you get the answer you are looking for. I'm similar height and have the medium / large path well trodden and usual find I have to compromise slightly.
5' 10 here and have been fine on a medium Soul
6 foot 3 here and a large Soul fits me perfectly.
Probably a medium, depending on you exact proportions.
I'm 5'10" on a medium Soul mkV and its spot on.. Remember that they're designed around a 35mm stem, so its a bit difficult to shrink a longer one to fit!
Having ridden both, if you want a bike for longer rides, I'd try and find the extra for a Soul if you can. It's SOO much more comfortable. I absolutely loved riding the BFe, as it's a complete hoot, but it's bloody solid. The Soul gives very little away handling wise but doesn't beat you up near so much. Admittedly I'm at the skinny end of the spectrum, so there's no benefit to the overbuiltness for me.
I'm 5'10" on a good day and ride a medium 2016 Bfe with a 50mm stem. It's great. Suspect you might be talking about a new Bfe though with Longshot geo so is different. I've ridden a medium new Flare which is the same sort of thing and that was fine. From what I know the longer top tubes make them feel bigger so more likely to go smaller on frame than larger. It's a very chuckable lively bike so smaller might be preferable I guess.
As above, I'm 5.10 and ride a medium new longshot Bfe.
I tried both frames out and found the large felt like more hard work. It could have been the build but not sure.
I built mine up with a 50mm stem not the 30/35 recommended and I absolutely love it. Personally I couldnt feel any benefit from a super short stem.
