Rear wheel has developed a cracked rim. They're stock wheels and are pretty crap anyway so good excuse to upgrade, however can only really afford to spend up to £200.
Quick search has thrown up Cosine wheels at Wiggle. Seem really light for the dosh and reviews look favourable. Is there anything better in this price bracket? Anyone using them?
I have put many, many kms on these Campag Khamsins, and at 1830g, they aren't the lightest, but they have been superb.
Bomb-proof and responsive. And of course, you could spend up and get a better version closer to your budget, like the Vento or the Scirocco.
Myself and my GF have been running a set of the 32mm Alu ones for 12 months now. Very impressive performance, light, stiff, still true. What's not to like at around 1,400g and £200.
Cheers for that. The Campag Vento looks a decent shout. About 200g heavier than the Cosines but might be better quality and noticed that CRC have them so I could use BC discount to get them a bit cheaper.
Blitz - if I were in your shoes I'd be purchasing a set of the new CRC own brand wheels, Prime. Various incarnations have received glowing reviews in Road.CC etc.
CRC did have a 10% discount across the range up until last week so I expect this will return again soon, this turns into a 20% discount with BC code so the £249.99 Prime Race wheelset would be bang on £200 which for a 1530g, tubeless ready wheelset is pretty impressive.

There's also the £204.99 rrp Prime Competition wheelset at 1580g which would come in nicely under your budget with BC code.

+1 for the Primes that Ben mentions. Mail order "factory" wheels but built with standard parts (those are re-labelled Novatec hubs, with DT Swiss spokes and Alex rims) so I certainly wouldn't say Campag were better quality than the Primes. They come set up for tubeless with valves installed and a clubmate has just fitted some with Schwalbe tubeless with no issues. The only reason to get Campag or Fulcrum over the Primes is label snobbery (which as long as you're honest about it isn't a bad thing!).
Great thanks. The primes look ideal. No issue with label snobbery. These are going on a CRC own brand Vitus!
Just to follow up, I ordered the Prime competition wheel set and as above, managed to get 20% off bringing them down to about £165. Bargain.
Paired them with some new 25c Schwalbe Pro Ones. Went up tubeless with a track pump and held air well overnight. Had my first ride on them today and really impressed. Noticeably lighter and running lower pressures and a slightly wider tyre, they also felt smoother and more comfortable.
Might be worth checking Superstar, they have 30% off baskets over £75 with code.
Wot no comments on the narrow rims?
(Which is nonsense IMO) 🙂
I went for the Cosines so far so good. Standard hubs, bearings, spokes and rims all serviceable with readily available parts. Nice.
+1 for Cosines here. Light and taut and inflated tubeless fine with Schwalbe Pro Ones, though I did have to fit tubeless tape and valves myself.
