Nice ride yesterday from Ballater ultimately coming back down to Loch Muick via Corrie Chash.

Beautiful!

Alas, I am no biking god so bits of the descent played with my mind....

Is that the really straight one down to the Loch? Did you do the Capel Mounth descent to Glen Clova too?

Haven't done it for years, last time was a STW meet up, must be 12 years ago!. It's a lovely descent, as is SF's suggestion too.

I would also recommend riding up to Dubh Loch from Loch Muick. Some of it is a walk, especially after the waterfall but the descent back down is ace, technical but never very steep. Also you don't have the exposure that you get at Corrie Chash, I can remember going down that descent one spring when there was still snow across the rock slide, it was quite scary.

We were emailing round last week about having down the longer, less steep option way BITD - to be fair, on rigid old school bikes with V brakes at best and probably mantis. Plenty steep enough for me IIRC.

As part of a climb out of Glen Clova, down to Lochg Muick, over to Balmoral, back round side of Lochnagar and back over Capel Mounth into Clova. Oh to be 30 again..
