I meant to reply on righog's thread but forgot about it. I didn't catch from the video exactly how it works... presumably it charges from normal pedalling rather than just freewheeling down hills? Or is it both? Either way they look like a great idea to me, sort of smoothing out the effort a bit so the easy bits are a bit harder but the hard bits are easier.
My way to work is up a huge great hill then down the other side... if I could store a bit of the energy lost from going downwards to help get back up again it would be ace!
I'm talking rubbish, it says it charges up when braking or going downhill. So next question... does it have to be a singlespeed?
Very cool I think, from both a nerdy, clever-bit-of-tech point of view and because it might be more likely to help get people on bikes than some of the dorkier looking e-bikes.
The future of cycling grieves your shortsightedness.
I bet it bends dropouts like no tommorrow!
(3x the pedal torque with just a std QR axle? hmmm?)
Looks awesome. Great idea!
