Walked through the above wood a couple of weeks ago and noticed lots of bike trails going off in all directions (some seriously steep). Then came upon a Forestry Commission sign saying that the the trail features had been removed for safety reasons and because of complaints from the public. There are no 'no cycling' signs though. Googled it when I got home and it appears that it was going to become some kind of bike park, complete with uplifts, a few years ago. Anyone ridden there? I thought I might have a trip over with the MTB when restrictions lift. I could ride over on the 'gravel' bike, but it seems a wee bit extreme for that and a touch too far to ride there on the MTB (it's about 9 miles from Brampton) so I'll wait until I can use the car.

Go North and Ride (GNAR) bike park? That's Armathwaite way IIRC.

I've just googled GNAR and that appears to be on the other side of Armathwaite, at Low Hesket, just off the A6. I'd never heard of that, either. These trails are in Coombs Wood, just a mile or so outside Armathwaite.
