I overheat and sweat a lot.

my most recent purchase of a giant path MIPS helmet has highlighted that and it's one of the hottest helmets I've ever had! I think it's the MIPS being flat on my head, so the wind channels don’t' actually direct wind onto my head, just onto the MIPS.

I have a roady, non mips helmet thats cooler, but I wonder if there's a MTB/XC helmet that has decent air flow, and doesn't cost £100+ (the giant MIPS was £35, so close to that would be great). I've used road helmets before, but with rimmed cycling glasses I can't help but feel like I'm about to line up at an early 90's dual slalom with my factory pilots and etto ears..

My old met crossover was OK too, but also not mips. Is there an inherent problem with MIPS and ventilation?

So is there anything air-ey, peaked, and reasonably priced?

You might be right about the MIPS effect.

Worth a look at the Lazer Coyote Kineticore. I've got both this and the older MIPS version and find the newer Kineticore cooler. Not by much but definitely feels as if more air reaches my head. No separate MIPS layer - they claim a similar effect through nobbles of polystyrene that can break/deform on rotational force. I guess it means more (small) channels for air to reach the scalp.

I actually prefer the MIPS version for a more robust peak (the one on the Kineticore version is too easily dislodged).

Also interested as I have the same problem. I've recently given up on the mips mtb helmets (Giro and Oakley) and now wear a non-mips roadie helmet (Giro or Met). Ventilation is better but not so much coverage or protection.

I've always been sceptical of the benefit of mips on a non full-face helmet that straps to my very moveable scalp! I've got built in mips!

Sweating is the one thing I excel at on a bike. I've found the Spesh Tactic to be cool enough for me. It's MIPS and can be found for about 35 quid if you're not fussy about colours (or the high peak aesthetic)

The Spada Howitzer is down to £29.99 at the moment, and is supposed to be well ventilated.

I am sweaty of head for sure, and the route I took was the Oakley DRT5 with the silicon brow strip that routes it out left or right when you tilt your head, the other option I tried previously was a Halo head band after I asked a similar question in here and a million (ok most) of the replies suggested it - rightly so it turns out.

I find the DRT5 fine for me but everyones head is different. I tried a roadie lid but didn't like the lack of coverage if you go off backwards etc and the balance is a personal choice.

I'm a sweaty ****er, I got a DRT5 after it was recommended on here. It's not that well vented but the silicon brow strip did a good job of preventing sweat from dripping onto my glasses or into my eyes. Great until the silicon strip went all sticky and horrible, the shop I bought it from couldn't get me a replacement and Oakley warranty were difficult to deal with and ultimately useless.
