Got a Kona unit with a formula hub

The freehib looks too small to take a cassette

Can I just stick on a new freehub.....
http://www.edinburghbicycle.com/products/formula-freehub-body-8-speed-w-socket-tool

Says 8 speed only ? I thought 8 /9/10 speed fit on the same freehub

Cheers

Also if anyone has a geared dropout going spare for a new explosif/ unit I'm interested !

Fit and 8 speed Alfine and be done. Mine can be swapped in minutes - although I ride exclusively SS.

The freehub won't fit, even if by some chance it would bolt on it would be too wide.

I'd look for a second hand wheel if I was looking at gearing up my unit.

Sounds like you have a Singlespeed cassette hub which is basically a narrow free hub. You might be able to fit more than one sprocket on and bodge a 3,4 or 5 speed set up depending on how wide it is. Alternately you need a new hub or wheel if you want to fit a full cassette as your current hub will be wrong to take a 9/10 sp cassette.

NB if you can fit 2, 3 or 4 sprockets on your hub why not do a 1x 3 set up 😀

I think I had the same hub, it won't take any more than 1 sprocket I don't think. The lockring takes up too much room.
