My wife has created some imagines in Adobe Sketch and realised they are in 72 DPI and she needs them in 300 DPI for printing (book illustrations).

I can use preview in my MAC to resize them but do I need to resample them too?

She will do the rest of the illustrations using a 300 DPI canvas but for the ones she has done is it best to do them again or does resizing do exactly the same thing?

Many Thanks

Yes you’ll need to resample them to have any effect. The results might be acceptable but it won’t be the same as starting from 300 dpi in the first place, and the difference between the two sets will probably be quite noticeable.

I'm not sure because I've never used Sketch, but since it's vector-based, it may be very straightforward to upsize without losing quality. It depends if the work she's done is in vector format or as an image ("pixels"). Either way, Adobe has some clever resizing functions, at least in Photoshop, so you may not lose much (if any) quality as you resize.
