My son has a 650c Btwin road bike. I have a brand new pair of Tektro mini v's in the garage.
Does anyone know if I could simply replace the brake calipers on the road bike with the mini v's so it would have clearance* for CX tyres possibly on 26" wheels i.e. Schwalbe CX pro's?
This would be so he could use it for a few CX races, he's done a few before but always had to use his mtb.
*I haven't checked the frame for clearance yet.....
You may want to have a look at the frame and fork and try to figure out where the bosses for the mini Vs are 😉
(TL;DR: no.)
Oh shit yeah!! durrr......
Could probably do it with deep drop caliper brakes. 650C wheels are 571mm diameter, 26" is 559mm. So the brake blocks would have to be 6mm lower down.
Should give a bit more tyre clearance anyway.
Yeah was thinking I would need to adjust brake block position between wheels, if they'll adjust that far.
I'll have a look at deep drop calipers. Cheers.
Brakes in kids Cross, nah, don't need them
