Been having quite a few punctures recently (6), where the valve has pulled away from the tube. Initially thought it was a bad batch of tubes, but eliminated that theory by using different tubes. Then i thought it was something to do with the plastic gromit in the valve hole of the rims (Mavic 717), changed that, but it continued. Then i was informed that it could be the rim tape causing the tube to roll, and was advised to used cloth, but when i checked, it was cloth. Today, i was examining the tyre, when i noticed a kind of puckering, on both sides of the sidewall (Protection models), for about 6 inches, either side. I fitted the tyre and tube, and when inflated, that area of the tyre was twisting like it wanted to pull off the rim. I removed the other tyre and fitted it to the same rim, and that was fine. So obviously, it's the tyre. Has anyone else experienced this problem, with these tyres?
