Am i right in thinking these are distinguished by the chequered-flag style print on the sidewalls? Or is that just a coincidence with all the ones ive bought?

Don't think that distinguishes it... I know that which of the various UST and non-UST Rubber Queen tyres are BC has been debated on this forum several times and I've always used the Conti brochure as a reference.

Yup, AFAIK the 2.4" UST is - but not the 2.2".
