Looking for a big tyre for use up front on a rigid forked hardtail. Anyone have any experience of the Conti Diesel 2.5?

as they got a mention in the 'worst tyres' thread, id say probably look at something else.

I had them for about 6 months a couple of years ago. They are very heavy but I never got a puncture and they rolled reasonably well. Fairly grippy as well.
In a nutshell, for their price I thought they were ok

I used these on my old Norco Six. Fast rolling, long lasting & proper sketchy in anything but dry conditions. Forget about having much grip if it gets wet or muddy. 8)
