Has anybody done this Coniston wasdale head route from pedal North, if so how long did it take and was it a good ride? https://pedalnorth.com/coniston-wasdale/
Hmmm, not done it all together, but most in parts.
I seem to remember the climb out of Langdale a real bastard (though it was 35degrees when I did it). I turned off down to Seathwaite though, so not sure of the descent to Wasdale. I hiked up that way before to the needle, but I can't remember the terrain.
Did from Wasdale over to Coniston on the c2c route. If I recall, the first bit was a bog of death, then the next bit was confusing due to deforestation, then there was a big old (rideable) climb upto Walna Scar, with a fast, loose descent down into Coniston. We took the road upto Ambleside, but it's pretty rolling round there. It's a long un, so maybe 4+ hours?
Tough. Rossett Gill is pure hikeabike, burnmoor has fair bit of on/off pushing, as does Harter. Walna is all pushing to the first gate, then low gear grinding.
Ground should be pretty good, not too boggy on burnmoor and the top of Harter.
Would take me a lot longer than four, I think.
4+ was complete guesswork 😀 it's a full day job isn't it, realistically
The bike carry up Rossett Gill is hard work, but the descent on the other side to Wasdale is worth it.
Looks a beast of a ride that, although I've only done parts of it.
Abs fine if you're experienced, but reckon you'd need to be happy riding your bike all day in case of mechanicals, slower riders in the gp etc.
Staveley 3 passes is a good one with similar climbing but more compact, around 24 miles.
