Hi,
Can anyone suggest a route near Coniston?

Up into Grizedale. then just follow the miles of gravel therein.

The Walna Scar Road is pretty gravelly nowadays, head up and over from Coniston, left at the quarries and back around through fire roads in Broughton Forest and return through Torver.
Or go north through High Tilberthwaite on either of the main routes to Little Langdale; push on to Elterwater and Loughrigg Terrace.
