Feel like I'm going round in circles here! Replacing a rim with an identical rim, but half the nipples are seized so I'm going for new spokes & nipples all round.

Rim: Pacenti TL28, ERD 567mm
Hub: Superstar Tesla Evo (rear) 135mm width

Currently the installed spokes appear to be 274mm length on both sides despite the dishing of the wheel being correct (I thought you usually had different sizes on either side of rear wheel..?). Current nipples are 15mm DT Swiss "Squorx" jobbies.

The question is, can I replace with these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Halo-and-Sapim-black-double-butted-stainless-steel-bicycle-spokes-nipples/264899532881

^they come with 12mm nipples.

Does that mean I order 274mm again, or go up to 276mm spokes?

Online spoke calcs aren't helping, they all punt out different numbers and none of them are 274mm...

Help appreciated!

I've got the same spokes on both sides in the last wheels I built (in fact, same spokes all round), that itself's not weird. Bsaically depends on the flange shape/size.

But I can't comment on what's right for you lengthwise- I always breathe a msasive sigh of relief when I build a wheel and find I've got it right!

15mm squarx nipples are 12mm in non squorx, the extra 3mm is on the back side so crack on with your 12mms.

Most hubs which don't have wildly different flange sizes or crazy spacing will build with 1 or 2mm apart spokes, which can usually be done with just one length as long as its somewhere in the middle. Some the flanges will be corrected a little to make them 1 size.

All of my wheels with Chris King / Phil Woods hubs can be built with the same length spokes. Front to rear, side to side. As above for the DT Nips.

I can’t get on board with Squarx nipples. They’re bloody heavy and seem to be an answer to a question no one asked. Maybe if you’re machine building hundreds of them, it makes sense but for hand build. Just save yourself 50g. Or 100g and use Polyax nipples.

Thanks all, that's really useful - looks like I'm okay to go ahead with 274mm spokes and normal 12mm nipples.

64 brass squorx only weighs 70g to start.....
