If you doenload ghese to a smartphone can you combine them with the phones gos to pinpoint where you are etc..?
Where from ?
What scale. Seems very cheap considering a set on paper would be something like £3500.
It keeps coming up on my fb feed.
I take it this is it..

That is for a years subscription, not to own the maps outright. I'd be very surprised if you could use the maps with anything other than their own apps, so it depends how good they are. An alternative is to buy Viewranger (which is excellent) and just buy (outright) the individual tiles you need.
Cheaper from back country navigator pro app. About £7 for full 1:25000 mapping of the UK. Allows route planning and if you download the areas you need before you go, no need for signal - works off gps.
IIRC you can download the app free to play with it and see if you like it, but maps work in the app only you can't do anything else with them, it will show you where you are though. Paying for it lets you see more info and use them offline, there's much better options out there but £20 for occasional use if you don't want to spend much isn't bad.
after the appalling mess that was the original suite of OS mapping apps I wont touch them with a bargepole. 3rd parties consistently produce better value, better quality and better specified products using licenced maps than OS have ever managed.
The "UK Map" app cleverly makes use of available free OS digital data and "Openstreetmap" data to simulate 1:50000 OS maps.
I had been using Orux maps with a Bing API key to download OS maps, and also integrating with Strava heat map overlay as per this thread....

Although now having problems with the Strava downloads in Orux (Bing OS still works fine) so have switched to Locus Pro (7 quid for the app) which also allows custom map sources like Orux and once again using Bing OS with API key and Strava heat map overlay.
I should update that thread with my Locus solution for reference.
I'm an unfortunate subscriber to the OS maps app/service and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
I use the free version of Backcountry Navigator and set the map source to 'UK OS maps from Bing', which gives access to 1:25k & 1:50k mapping.
I've got the OS Maps app. on my iphone, I fairly regularly buy new OS paper maps for rallying so just use it to redeem the codes then download for offline use, it's come in quite handy on lots of occasions, though limited functionality at 1:50,000 scale.
I use the os maps app. I find it good. £20 a year and unlimited online use of maps at all scales with the ability to download custom tiles for offline use even at 1:25k.
I know you have to think ahead to avoid data charges but £20 for the whole uk at 1:25k is good value I think.
Same as core, I use lots of OS maps for rallying. I subscribed to the OS app for a year and used it about 4-5 times.
Best I've found is Memory Map, get end of year sales and buy full GB 1:50k HD maps for £60, can be used on up to 5 devices so you can draw routes on laptop then transfer to phone. Think it's wonderful!
