On my commute I've seen someone going the other way that has a bright front light that also has a bright flash in the same unit, rather than a separate steady beam and another flashing unit, looks very effective, anyone know what front light this is or any makes that do this sort of thing?? Ta vey much

Exposure do this too
Lezyne?
Flash on the front can be horrid for other road users (cyclists included), don't do it. Strobe is even worse.
+1, a small flashing supplementary light might be ok but anything bright needs to be steady and dipped on the road.Flash on the front can be horrid for other road users (cyclists included), don't do it. Strobe is even worse.
Here you go mate, I asked the same Q a while ago

I bought the Cateye Volt 300, been very happy with it. Though I supplement it with 2 other lights as well
Think the 400 and 800 versions are now out
This...
If you can stretch a bit have a look on the Niterider Lumina series. I've got the 750, the pulse function on it is brilliant - when riding it does feel like the unit is releasing "fire punch" few times per second!
... from that thread sounds horrendous.
I wouldn't use the pulse at night time, but I think in daylight, it's an effective way of being noticed.
I use an old exposure enduro light for winter commuting and its perfect. Its funny to see some cars go past me then slam their brakes on. I always wonder if they think a speed camera has flashed.
Thanks all ... I meant to say more of a pulse thing than a constant flash strobe thing, the one I've seen maybe flashes every 2 seconds or so, makes a normal constant light stand out more, definitely take notice.

Perfect for you but probably not perfect for anyone else using the road.
Also not entirely sure I'd want cars slamming on their brakes having just passed me 😯
Some of the Lezyne lights have an option of flash modes, one of which is a slow pulse - can't recall the exact model though
The exposure flash does a pulse mode and I think the current hope lights do as well.
