You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi,
As my completely accidental ghetto tubeless on my Do-it-All Charge Plug commuter/roadie bike proved to be success I decide to share it with STW.
Some random pictures of procedure:

If you are after details wheel is Charge Dish (I think) 17mm internal, tyre is Schwalbe Durano Plus 28c, liner made from 26" Conti Supersonic inner tube plus about 60ml of Schwalbe Doc Blue sealant.
Unexpected bonus, tyre is now 32mm wide with 80PSI inside 🙂
Whole system is not 100% sealed as yet, but that might improve over time. At the moment I'm expecting to add some air every 1-2 days.
Cheers!

80psi...
I'm out.
Possible Darwin award right there.
**** that shit
That is a stunningly bad idea.
Your dentist must be rubbing his hands, right now. 😉
So far done about 36 miles, no issues whatsoever 🙂
Rear wheel, so even if something will go bang! I expect my teeth to stay on it's place.
Cheers!

I have never managed to get at tyre to not leak air at that high a pressure! Let us know if you succeed.
To be fair I have never had one pop off the rim at that high a pressure either, but apparently that's a possibility. Currently running them at 55 psi instead.
Old school, split tube Ghetto then?
Which might well help tighten the tyre up on the bead I suppose...
I still wouldn't fancy it at those pressure and with a non tubeless tyre, I reckon it's gonna be a gunshot loud bang on the way to work one sunny morning for sure...
Good luck fella.
Will update.
Either from hospital or just from clocking OK miles 🙂
Cheers!

Hi,
So promised update.
As to disappointment of some I'm well and not in hospital :p
Week of commuting (181miles) done.
In a meantime I dropped pressure down to 70PSI.
Half way through the week checked it and there was no need to top it up.
So I can declare system now sealed.
Double happy as back roads between Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire are not especially hailed for their smoothness xD
Now tempted to convert front wheel as well, but that will require some more preparations, as I recollect, there are at least 2 wire/small glass cuts in the tire.
Will update you at some point.
CHeers!

Keep pumping and see when the Durano blows off. It will probably destroy the rim.
Tubeless tyres on ghetto tubeless is absolutely fine. Non tubeless tyres on tubeless rims ok if pressure is not excessive. Non tubeless tyres on non tubeless rims at road pressures is not a sound idea.
And I blew some conti GP4S off. Kayrium at about 90 psi in my dining room, as an experiment. Just don’t. Get some proper tyres.
Hi,
No need to pump it to destruction 🙂
Might try when it would be no longer in usable condition but at the moment all fine, so will keep on clocking miles.
Cheers!
I.
Hi,
Another update. Over the course of 2 weeks I lost only 10PSI.
Good stuff 🙂
Cheers!
I.
Delighted it's working. Doesn't stop it being a dumb thing to do.
Delighted it’s working.
I bet you are not :p
You are probably mildly annoyed that against all odds it is still OK 😉
Cheers!

Most things are “ok” right up until the point when they aren’t.
Deciding wether something is a good idea or not, is best done before that point.
I bet you are not :p
The fact that you've done something dumb doesn't mean I want you to get hurt. If you don't believe me, I guess that's because I'm nicer than you.
Update to all nice and not so nice people :p
Month and a half passed, over 1k miles clocked, no issues whatsoever.
Cheers!
