Thinking of purchasing a new meta (V3) in the near future, just wanting to know people's opinions on them and sizing too? I'm a little over 5' 10" so right at the end of a medium but at the very start of a large (according to the website), Medium ends at 5'10" and large starts at 5'10"..
TL;DR, opinons on commencal Meta V3 and sizing help?
thanks in advance.
I have a meta am 29. It's a large and is very very big!
They're quite long in the top tube if I remember rightly so a medium might well fit you.
Great bikes - quite heavy but bombproof. Any reason you're not going for the V4 though?
Yeah, the top tube is where my doubts come from, i'm only 19 so might still grow yet hopefully.
Have heard the V4's are a bit more trail bikey but may very well be an option by the time i get round to ordering one if the V3 sells out.
Im 5'10 and have short legs (30") and rode a medium. V3 AM1 650b last year (now switched to another enduro 650b)
It was a good bike. kinda heavy but very burly.
Do yourself a favour and get the shock push tuned as soon as you get it.
The CTD Fox shock tune is horrible. The kinematics of it will mean that it will blow through all the travel very easily as the shock doesnt have much in the mid stroke or bottom stroke.
I had mine done and it brought the bike to life. Well worth the £150.
Enjoy 🙂
Going by your comment i think i'd best measure my inside leg (ooer) and hopefully have a comparison. I think a medium will suit better for manouverability after coming off a dh bike i'm used to low front ends and small(ish) frames.
The 2015 bikes comes with an x fusion shock but can't see there being much difference between the 2.
V4, from what i have heard, isn't as stiff as the V3 but V3 is heavier as a result of it being 'burly'. Also main difference is the fork comes with the compression adjust as well as the rebound rahter than just rebound on the V3. The shop i work in deals with windwave so could get a damper easy enough, hopefully...
The medium Enduro I have now is a bit taller in standover but a shorter TT.
The Meta is quite long and low.
Personally Id go medium if you are used to a smaller bike. I came to the meta from a small enduro and it felt big at first but was very stable.
Yeah I heard the V4 is not as stiff. I swapped the fork out for a Pike. So much better than the Fox it came with.
Hopefully the x-fusion shock is better than the CTD (cant be much worse). Not many shocks other than maybe BOS will fit in the frame which I think is maybe why they changed it in the V4?
Find the ctd on my v3 fine. however, without asking, mojo put a spacer in it to give more support - found the rebound had to run a bit quicker than I thought it would need. As said, a burley old frame at 8lbs.
