I'm eyeing up options for a new trail bike frame to replace the  Ripmo after "the incident".

The Meta seems to be available for very reasonable money ($1700AUD) albeit without a shock (but mine will fit). I'd need a PF BB a 200mm rotor and a dropper shim but everything else would swap over.

I can't find any recent threads here about it. Any opinions?

Another option is a 2nd hand Spec Stumpjumper Evo with barely used Float X for $1100.

I had one, got rid. clear coat on the frame went so it oxidised, it was very heavy, and geometry was too extreme for the travel (140mm), so encouraged you to go faster than the travel allowed. Also has really short rear end, depends whether you want this or not.

Also went through bearings (which were expensive). All in all, I would not recommend.

I have had one for two and half years with Fox suspension and I've really enjoyed it. I'm in NZ, so not British riding conditions. Summers are long hot and dry.Suspension bearings have been replaced for the first time last month and were munted and the mechanic said not of the best quality or sealed very well. It's probably heavy but it's robust and I,m having fun on it

Interesting. I think the weight and the chainstay length are the same as my current Ripmo AF, which is heavy but i've got used to it.

I'm in Oz so not British conditions either ... that said the bearings on the Kona I had barely lasted 6 months

I also found that the hole under the top tube that the shock fits in allows water to flow directly into the headset bearings and down into the bb shell. I ended up running Moto foam in my frame, which subsequently made the frame weigh even more.

Dropper post routing is also a real pain, and I never got mine working particularly well even after months of trying. Also the water build up in the frame meant the bottom of the dropper got corroded.

Thinking back about it, I really didn't rate it, also the reach was significant, 490mm for a large, again personal preference but much more comfortable on 47mm frame I'm on now.

Obviously a lot of the issues I had were reliability related, something you may not get in aus. But mainly I found the geo Vs travel the biggest issue.
