Looking at getting my first ebike and was wondering if anyone has/has tried, either one of these? They look similar on paper ie similar travel and price (ish). Obviously both are direct sales and I can't afford to stretch to a £6k YT Decoy. If there are any other bikes of a similar price/spec with 150mm+ travel that anyone knows of then I'd be interested to hear your views. I know I'd struggle to find anything in stock at the moment but I'm in no hurry so fine to wait for a 2022 delivery.
Get onto the emtb forum, it's a mine of info tbh, and much more experience than this place obviously.
Someone on there cracked a spectral on recently, was a huge crack above the BB, canyon were awful with him, refusing to warranty it. That would put me right off, there's a few stories on there of folk having similar dealings with them.
I really like the Commencal but I've never seen one in the flesh. My concern is, what do you do when all the Shimano hardware starts blowing up? Will Madison deal with it via your LBS even though you didn't buy it from them?
Also I'd strongly consider driving to Andorra to collect it. The website suggests a 10% saving if you buy from the Commencal shop. That's a fair chunk of cash on an e-bike and you could put it towards a few days riding around Vallnord.
I was under the impression (maybe wrongly) that the motor could just be fixed at any Shimano Service Centre? I’m just up the road from Canyon head quarters as well so I could camp outside their door until they sorted any problems😉. Bit worrying about after sales service though. Maybe I’ll look into the Commencal a bit more. Have also been looking at Orbeas but I think they’re all 29ers which I didn’t really want.
