Hi
Just looking for some advice I have a 2010 commencal meta 5.5 ltd (carbon rear alloy front) it's a belting ride and I love it climbs brilliantly I could spend all day on it but I have now had a 2010 Meta 5.5 vip carbon turn my head now should I take the plunge ? I am a serial bike swapper but the Mrs has said one more and thats it - any thoughts ???
Any advice warmly welcome
Thanks
Mark
Why would you want to buy a new bike if you love the one you have?
I used to have a 2010 carbon meta. Loved it, until it broke. Carbon snapped in the seatpost to bottom bracket area after rolling through a shallow ditch. Only bit of bike kit I have ever broken. Still got an old style alu meta which is equally good.
I like the Commencal bikes.
This forum, recent model years: appears like the frame issues are sorted out. But from which year on I don't know. 2010: might be right in the years where they had problems...
New Commencal aluminium bikes: a blast.
2010 was indeed the main cracking issues for timing, but that was the Alu frames.
@weeksy: thanks! Good to know.
Yes - and Commencal still suffers from this...
But these companies spent more for testing equipment and learnt the hard way. For me - "testing and also fatigue testing" - is one of the key areas for mtb companies.
Thought it was 2009 that was the problem year they then shifted production to another factory 2010 and they are meant to be a better finish
Also had meta 55 carbon and also broke in bb/seatpost area. Still hanging on the wall in my garage 🙁
Thanks all I'm not getting it now !!
