Hello,
I live in Austria and am looking for a new bike for fun in the hills here.
Commencal have a decent black Friday deal on and the Ohlins Clash looks like a contender - https://www.commencal-store.de/clash-ohlins-edition-keswick-green-2022-c2x33291426
Does anyone own a Clash? It would not just be used in bike parks, full days out going uphill will also be done now and then. I know it´s not the lightest up the hill but I don´t have space to own a full on trail bike and DH bike so I think this might be a decent compromise.
Would I be crazy to buy it or is it fine for my intended use?
I only know that they look really good. You should definitely buy it and let us know how it is. If I lived anywhere near an Alp and a chairlift I'd buy one. Probably not a great trail bike for Plague Island.
I notice that the Ohlins powered Supreme has disappeared from the UK and Euro site (still on the USA one). That was my top fantasy bike a few weeks ago.
Not sure if we're seeing the same prices, but that seems really expensive at 5,600 EUR? Or is there a discount at checkout?
Considered any other "super-enduro" bikes? There seem to be quite a few deals about at the mo.
There is 10 percent off on as a Black friday deal that you apply at checkout.
Just a thought, but there's an extra linkage available for this which allows you to switch from 160mm to 180mm rear travel.

Might suit your needs really well and come in cheaper anyway? You'd probably have to wait for stock though.
I have a friend that rides one as his only mtb, complete with AXS gears and dropper. Completely overbiked given he only really rides with his 7 and 5 year old kids, but he seems to like it.
A friend's son has one. It's fantastic for parks like BPW or Rogate, a bit of a nuisance for trail riding in the Surrey Hills, which is mostly lots of short steeps that aren't particularly high or drawn out climbs. It's enormous (he's now taller than me - how does that happen?) and quite hefty compared to what he was riding before. The Ohlins shock may help with climbing manners - just bear in mind the bike is more toward DH/Park than trail. I'm a sucker for single pivots and used to really enjoy riding my old Meta 4 in the days of 26", and it seems thoughtfully put together like a lot of Commencal stuff. 170mm is well into the range of probably needing some sort of fancy(er) linkage from Dave Weagle to make it climb better, but those come with hefty price tags. If your riding is more lift assisted than self-propelled, this is a sweet bike.
Propain spindrift? Would fit the big bike part with the addition of high efficiency. Plus it seems like they actually give a shit about customers
That's a good shout.
Canyon Torque also has some nicely specced affordable options and comes in mullet or 29 IIRC.
I was told my Slayer isn't a trail bike. I couldn't agree less. It's an ace trail bike, just not as fast an xc bike as some. But I knew that before buying.
If you accept the limitations then it'll be awesome
Give the whole bike a good going over with a torque wrench if you buy.
As long as you don't mind Working For The Clampdown......
Sorry.
I considered a Clash but ended up with a Transition Spire. Very happy with it, although it's more 'enduro' and less 'park'.
Briefly considered one but where is your water going? Feel like this matters more in Aus

I have no idea what that means
