Looking to ditch the lock on grips and get something with a bit more comfort. Any suggestions? I like something with a but of pattern on it to grip. Thanks

Consensus seems to be ODI mushroom grips (Longnecks for example). A few weeks and miles in after I started this thread, I can confirm that they haven't slipped and are super comfortable. No regrets.
ESI Extra chunky (very comfortable, but don't last long)
Oury (very thick, last for ages, comfy, but not as comfy as ESI)
Currently using Renthals Ultra Tacky, not as thick as two above, but look promising - stay tuned...

I've got these and they're really nice. I don't wear gloves and the grips are so sticky they feel like they're covered in something. I imagine they'll wear out quickly as my fingers are always covered in particles of super sticky rubber.

I'm using the ODI Attack grips - and loving them...hands are very comfy now with no issues with numb hands!
Longnecks appear to be the same but wider.
Longnecks also available in a softer compound than Attacks.
Odi longnecks from the skatehut for a tenner made a massive difference for me.
Maybe don’t be hasty to write-off all lock-ons. My various Ergon grips are still the most comfortable of all grips I’ve tried. Now with wings...

I'd like to try the Renthal Ultra Tacky push on, but for some reason no online seller seems to stock them. Every other Renthal product is available, but not the push on grips.
I got ODI Longnecks for the kid's bikes because they came in a wide range of colours to coordinate perfectly and were cheap. Turns out they're also really comfy, the kids love them.

they are really comfy tho, but you need to be a real shovelhanded bastard.
i also cant wear gloves with them, too much material between me and the bars. feels disconnected.
Anyone running Fabric mushroom grips? Quite like the look of the shape of them.
Specialized Sip Grip, half-waffle have them on a new bike and surprised how good they are.
I'll spit out my unpopular opinion about grips: every grip I ever tried was uncomfortable on a bike with bad ergonomics, and every grip seems to be comfortable when the cockpit ergonomics are on point.
I just turned 30 and do lots of grip strength related workouts, so that might be related

OK, so few rides later with Renthals - the grip is amazing, but they're too thin for my palms.
The hour ride caused pain in the outer parts of hands. On 140mm bike. This never happened with Ourys or ESIs, even on a full-rigid.
Used odi attacks for decades. Tried others but the attacks have always been what I return to.
I may try the longnecks in soft, for better wet grip, though trying out renthal push on tacky on the MTB, seem grippy, but quite thin. Though they are squishy, so see how it goes.
ESI grips were good, and comfy, but when wet have zero grip. Better with just plain foam for that.
I always install push on grips over a double wrap of insulation tape, coated in gt85 to slide them on.
Not sure if the gt85 reacts with the pvc (doubt it) or it's just the slightly extra girth from the tape that keeps the grips stuck firm. 🙂
