We are spending a week there soon.
Just been told that one of the people we are going with wants to go for a bike ride.
He is firmly in the leisure cycling camp. Looked at the map and not seen too many bridleways are there any bumpy farm roads for us to ride on, tracks down the side of the river or is there a secret Singletrack Mecca that only the locals know?
I’m putting on my white trainers and lowering my seat so that I can put both feet down in anticipation!
Not much in the way of MTB riding, if I head over that way (I live in Ottery, about 10 miles west) it tends to be in the road bike.
Head up the river towards northleigh, and there's loads of gravelly country lanes. Quite steep in parts though.
Or head down towards Seaton and follow the sustrans bike route signs along the coast to Beer and Sidmouth.
For MTB, the closest decent riding is Woodbury Common, about 12 miles west. Loads of stuff from wide-open gravel to tight woody Singletrack.
Thanks, I shall take my hybrid.
Should have brought my fatty.
Where's that then?
It's just here. A little bit cheeky but I was following someone's Strava route ,so it's not my fault.
How steep are some of those climbs? Bleeding Nora!
If anyone has cleaned Gay's Farm track (up) I'd like to buy them a beer.
Ah, I've never explored those woods. See you went past Blackbury camp, it's a cool iron age fort.
...and yes. It can get steep round here!
