Hi all,

Off for two weeks in Coly-Saint-Amand in the Dordogne during the summer holidays. Anyone ridden there? Looks more gravel than mtb?

Ta v much.

Haven't been there specifically, but my default for France is always gravel. That way you're covered for interesting off-roady stuff if it's available and/or teeny-tiny quiet country lane cruising (of which there seems to be a limitless amount in France).

With multiple stops at bakeries and bars, obvs.

Always worth whacking [random french town] + VTT into google.  That being said a lot of the routes tend to be pretty tame.  Better to be under rather than over biked.

Yeah, anything that's not pristine tarmac seems to get labelled 'VTT, needs a mountain bike' in France. But then I guess they, unlike us, are used to having pristine tarmac to ride their road bikes on...

Something with a basket to carry the baguettes from the local boulangerie

I took my hardtail X-C bike and really didn't miss FS. You might find it a bit warm so make the most of the mornings.

Awaits Edukators correction, but... don't buy a baguette, they're price-protected by law and so are generally a bit rubbish. Buy the 'pain artisanale' (or something like that), it'll be much nicer, and only slightly dearer (they're basically what a baguette would be if it didn't have to be made to hit a price point)
