Entries are are now being encouraged for the 14th annual Colne Valley Mountain Bike Challenge, taking place this year on Sunday 14th May 2017 at 9.00am.

The FULL course is a challenging one (as you'd expect) and consists of approx. 30 miles of local paths, tracks, bridleways and lanes around the picturesque Colne Valley area of Huddersfield - regularly featured on TV as settings for Jericho, Last Of The Summer Wine and Where The Heart Is. We also now have an optional SHORTER course OF 20 miles for chubbers, the elderly and/or infirm, and the terminally inept.

* We also now welcome FULLY LEGAL, REGULATED eBikes on both routes too *

The cost of entry is £17 pre-booked (entry forms available at www.cvmbc.co.uk ) and £22 on the day - although we do encourage pre-booking as it greatly assists the organisation of the event.

All participants will receive a free commemorative T-Shirt and certificate upon completion. The course will be fully marshalled throughout and will have 4 refreshment stops at designated points. There will also be a back-up vehicle available for anyone who wishes to (or is forced to!!) retire early.

Bacon Butties will be on sale beforehand at a nominal £1.00 each, but apart from these EVERYTHING ELSE refreshment wise (soup, bread, bananas, flap-jack, biscuits, coffee, tea etc etc) is FREE. Yes FREE. There is also a brilliant little pub - The Walkers Arms - situated on site, so those that wish to can partake of a pint (or two) if so desired.

So, to sum it up - it's a 30 mile (or 20 mile) challenging MTB ride, fully marshalled, fully 'catered' and absolutely FANTASTIC VALUE, with a pub on site to finish the day off as well. You won't find a better day out in this area on the 14th May. Come and give it a go - you've nothing to lose and we're absolutely certain that you'll be well looked after and have a great time.

WE ARE NO LONGER DIRECT MAILING ENTRY FORMS TO PREVIOUS PARTICIPANTS - ENTRY IS VIA THE WEBSITE ( www.cvmbc.co.uk ) ONLY. EITHER PRINT OFF A FORM AND POST IT AS USUAL, OR ENTER ONLINE USING PAYPAL. THANKS

Really hoping I'm free that weekend - it's a top event, brilliant course. Has everything from 1:4 road climbs, technical singletrack off-road downhills, big fire-road uphill to Wessenden, lovely cobbled climbs and even some Colne Valley style urban DH !

I've fancied this the past couple of years but it's always clashed. Diary looks free this year so I'm keen.
Is there overnight parking on site for a van?

Hi Nick, there's plenty of space to park up overnight - either in the corner of the pub car park, or on land adjacent, no problem at all.

Not sure I'm up to the 30 miler.... is the 20 mile route as good as the 30 mile one sounds?

The 20 mile route is the same route with a loop in the middle missing.

The sun's been out here all weekend and the routes are bone dry and dusty. Get your entries in as soon as possible folks, it really helps us out when we know the numbers involved.

Here's a video of last year's event:

How much climbing do you think the 30 mile course has in it?

Just watched the video above, 26 or so (that's what it feels like when you do the ride) miles on the road on a fat bike ! 😯
