Just pulled my bike down, to put some air in the tyres, and found the seal on the shock collapsed. Maybe 1/4 of the way around it's kinda inside out, the steel retainer ring curved away from the stanchion part and the inner lip seal, sticking out.
I can't upload a photo without hosting it, can i.
This is doubly annoying, as ive "just" had the shock TF tuned.
This is also, however, very depressing, because when I say "just", I mean two rides ago.
But April 2022.
I've checked on Strava, and confirmed that I've not had my "main" bike down since June 2022.
Had a baby (another) see, and have only gotten on the odd one or two local rides, on my hardtail.
Finally snatch a morning for a ride, and the bikes out of action. Sad face.
I guess I'll strip the shock and see if the seal can be reseated, but it looks pretty ruined.
Update. The seal is bent to chuff, when taken out. I guess it doesn't like being sat at 210psi for 18months. Perhaps heating and cooling has walked the seal out. Brand new seal kit is a cheaper option than a whole new bike, which is where my head was going.
