Never been before, been to Afan several times, favourite there is the Blade.
What would you recommend if I have 2/3 hours spare on a weekday.
play about in the foundry and do the purple trail.
MBR trail was great, Red Fox (can't spell the correct, Welsh version) was good for an hours blast too.
MBR is great but would be about 1.5hrs.
You could probably do the Beast in under 3hrs if you're reasonably fit and have fresh legs.
Highly recommended, and you can cut out a big fireroad loop if you're pushed for time or struggling.
Red Fox (can't spell the correct, Welsh version)
is Cyflym Coch (literally 'red quick')
Dragon's Back* if you want a rocky, pedally, XC struggle (until you get to 'Herman').
The Minotaur at high speed is great fun if there are no kiddies around.
*Any of the others if you're normal, but I didn't particularly like Tarw Ddu, either (for the amount of fire-road to trail).
The beast gets my vote
Rushed the as Apple trail in pouring rain. I was tired from drive and earlier events, really struggled, not fun. Will go back for dragon.

Next time:
MBR, looping round on the fire roads after Bugsy, over to the cafe and then include Herman and the Adams Family, then back where you left off on MBR.
Was there past few days (amongst other places).
Temtiwr is good, I also enjoyed Dragons Back, if you miss out that first section through the giant forks (which is some sort of 'qualifier' for most of the red graded trails but actually just has no flow). Ride the Minortaur as the warm up for a couple of miles then join Dragons Back.
To be honest, I would say whatever you do make sure you finish with Hermon, then the Adams Family sections, bloody brilliant fun.
