Hello all,
I have a weekend of riding planned late October in Coed y Brenin for my first time. I have done a quick Google search for camp sites in the area, of which there appear to be many.
Can you lovely people help me finding the best / closest one to get on to the trails without driving to the centre please?
1 camper, 1 caravan + car and 1 tent, aware that that can make a difference when choosing sites.
Thanks awfully in advance.
Cae Gwyn Campsite / Camp Barn / B&B are very accommodating (stayed about 3 times)
Its about 1/2 mile up the road from the main entrance to CYB so comfortably ridable.
Its basic but the facilities are sound and the location can't be beaten!
The owners will also run you up the local pub of an evening if you don't fancy driving for a couple of ££ (and the landlord runs you back!)

Not helpful in terms of not driving to the site, you could ride but it's a few miles, but Graig Wen is really nice.. and you do your toilets down a hole...
Thanks guys. I will look into these option in more depth when I am released from work later.
Just make sure you're trollied before the landlord runs you back from the pub....
Hmm, Does he run Hell Rides in an old series 2?
Penrhos Isaf Bothy is on the route of The Beast (Not sure if it's still called that) spent many an hour on work parties there. Great bothy, helped to build the roof and stairs as well as doing some pointing. Toilet shed a short walk away (covered hole in the ground)

Cae Gwyn Farm doesn't accept caravans IIRC. I only know as I'm looking to go in a couple of weeks possibly and want somewhere that'll take my van (which they do 🙂 ).
The Rhiw Goch Inn allow a couple of caravans / camper vans in their land and you can ride straight onto the trails as you can from our accommodation.
Hi,
Stayed here in August, just to the north of Dolgellau:

Easy access to the south side of the Beast via the high road which runs up the east side of the valley and also a few minutes ride back in to Dolgellau for nights out. Think it is open to end of Oct.
Cheers
I stay here:
foods good beers good and you can have open fires ace when camping in january!

I stayed here in July.
Lovely spot, nice and quiet and about a miles walk over the hill to Dolgellau and a bit of a stagger back.
Got back from my weekend at Ceod y Brenin yesterday. My first visit as there is a lot more closer to where I live. Really enjoyed it. Rode dragons back (I fannied out of riding a black diamond as I had to drive the 5 hours home the next day and have a baby due on 2 weeks). An awful lot of fire road which seemed character building at first but slowly turned into soul destroying once the weather came in. The tea shop is a real oasis. Normally wouldn't bother stopping that far into a ride but seemed rude not too as it was there. Good cake!
Adams family descent is a scream! Single track sections are nicely put together once you are in there but man, what a lot of fire road.
I stayed at Cae Gwyn Farm in the end. Ideal to ride to and from the trail centre, really good showers, nice and hot with good pressure. I could have stayed in there for an hour after the wet and windy ride around the woods we had. Nice people too, which makes it for me.
