I hear on the grapevine that the former Coed Y Brenin cafe is looking for new operators, who can apply through Natural Resources Wales. The last cafe there was pretty pants and food was never that good. Would be great if they had a Llandegla type setup there, good cakes, bacon butties etc at reasonable prices. Anyone on here know someone interested in applying?
The cafe food at CyB was always good food at good prices, the lack of engagement from the staff was the biggest issue.
Closing early or not restocking the fridge so there was nothing to offer, was the biggest gripe, but there maybe reasons behind it.

This community group are hoping to take over running the cafe:

Fingers crossed for them. Can't see too many other people bidding for the tender, but you never know.

Last few times I was there the cafe was pretty pants, esp compared to the likes of Llandegla where you're almost making up reasons to spend more money there as it's so damn good.Â
If the cafe is decent it will help drag in all sorts, it's an awesome building with that lovely balcony. If they offered 90 mins FOC parking if you got your parking ticket stamped in the cafe, they'd get passing local traffic and all sorts rather than just MTB'ers.

The parking has been free at CYB for while now, albeit while there have only been the bike shop and trails on offer.
Fingers crossed it takes off again.
Yeah the free parking if you visit the cafe would be a great idea to pull people in.
Looking at the tender process, it's amazing the number of regulatory hoops, red tape and approval processes the new cafe owners will have to jump through. It's no wonder small businesses are struggling to gain traction and survive at the moment.
