All of it!

I still have a soft spot for the old Bull trail on the other side of the road, now called Tarw.

3 days will get you around all of it, though.

The standard answer is "both of them"

Basically there were really only two trails at CyB, The Beast and The Red Bull.  That has changed slightly with the addition of the Red Fox or whatever it's called, but not much.  Essentially it's a triumph of marketing over substance.  Almost all the singletrack is a subset of the Beast or the Red Bull.

!!.  A day would get you round all of it.

One long day or a day and a morning will do you. You'll be able to fit in more than just CyB.

Definitely do the Beast in preference to the Dragon's Back.  If you're not up for the full Beast then just miss out the PointlessFireRoadOfpointlessness.

The MBR bit of the Beast is infinitely preferable to the PFROP

Beast, Cyflym Coch, Dragon's Back, MBR, Tarw Du, Temtiwr in a day? Fast pace, then.

So does anyone know how many km of trail there actually is at CYB these days?  I'm guessing around 80.

Beast ~40

Tawr ~ 20

Fox ~15 of which maybe 10 is new.

Minortaur ~8

Have I missed any?

Flashie...

No I meant km of actual trail.  I don't think MBR has more than a couple of km (if that) that aren't just a subset of the Beast, likewise The Dragon's Back has nothing that isn't contained in the Beast with the first bit of Cwyflym.

I don't think there's more than 80 km in total.  OK they've chopped and rechopped it down into lots of different named sections (routes actually) but there definitely isn't more there than you could do in a day.

in terms of nearby, there's Marin and Penmachno which can be easily combined with something at CYB....

Tarw Du 20km

MBR 18km

Beast 38km

Most of those are just rearrangements of the same trail. Beast is only 20 miles or so , Tarw Du is 12. That's pretty much the total apart from the first five minutes of Minotawr and mucking around a bit at the Foundry area.

Is there a way of avoiding the pointless fireroad of pointlessness ? It just seems like extra miles added in for no good reason.

Yeh look at a map. I think you can just carry on up one fireroad at the end of one section to miss out a load. Someone will be along in a minute to confirm the name...

Point Scethin loop (clockwise). It'll be cracking while the weather's like this.

Follow it to post 119, turn left and follow fire road around to meet tarmac, then turn up right to rejoin at post 124. Pretty obvious if you look at the map. Or you can go straight up the road, but this is quite steep!

I was up at CYB weekend before this last one just gone. I'd definitely recommend Tarw Du. The Slab is fun, just to try out the different lines.

We drove up to Penmachno too, which feels a bit more natural and has some stunning views. You will get wet feet though.
