So much history, and good to see so many developments there!

I remember my first trip to the Bull, way back when. Short travel, rubbish brakes, but a grin as wide as a mile. I've been in blistering summer, when we've cooled off in the river, and in shivering winter, when almost nothing would thaw the toes, and all points in between.

Great place, great riding.

1) MBR trail not quite as they described it, but still good
2) my first visit lit my MTB fire
3) no 2 cost me £1250 for a Trek liquid. Loved it for many years until it died.

I did the beast yesterday. Such a disappointment. 20 odd miles of fire road climbs with the odd rubbish descent. I don't get why these places are so popular. They are so boring I don't think I would bother riding if that's all I had locally.

Aside from the marked trails are there off piste trails? It seemed like a cruel joke as we rode past trails off to the sides that looked fun.

I think we first visited CYB in 2000,first time I'd visited a trail centre.
I enjoyed it so much it got me hooked on 'mountain biking'.It also killed the BSO that I bought from my mate for £50. 😳
We had a 'Old School trail centre' weekend at the end of October, first time in years I'd been back to CYB & the Marin. We enjoyed them both & are Planning on going back next year.
They also serve Purple Moose in the cafe at CYB 😆

My first trail centre soon after I took up mountain biking. I have very fond memories of my times there and the apricot oaties at the old cafe.

I've got a trip planned for January after several years and can't wait.

Loads of no. Trail centre trails in coed y brenin, also around the Marin (gwydyr) and penmachno trails. Give me a shout and I'll show you the lot! Also a massively overlooked area is the Dee valley

I first rode there circa 1991 when the NWMBA held races there. Was weird coming back into mountain biking years later and finding that there were actually MTB designated trails. Circa Y2K, it was all about hardtails with around 80mm of travel at the most and the rocky nature of the trails made them fun to ride. IIRC some of the best bits were cut out for health and safety reasons. Combine that with bikes with more travel and you end up riding long sections of fireroad on massively overbuilt bikes. Shame.

I love cyb, hope it keeps going from strength to strength... Yes it's pedally but that's why I bought a bike with pedals. I've usually been on a hardtail when I've ridden there but on the big bike I just went faster. I suppose it's a bit trickier to do that than a lot of newer centres which are built more for speed and just lay it all on for you but I love that feeling of working for it.
