got to point where I can't read my Garmin (especially maps)

Have the stick in reading glass thingies (Hydrotac) which work surprisingly well, but am using varifocal normal glasses more and more as they sharpen up medium / distance vision. Good for for driving / motorbike / watching TV, no good for computer work / reading though as I have to peer out of the bottom of them.

So looking at prescription lens for my Oakley sunglasses. The places I've found online seem to be £250 ish (lenses only). Any cheaper options?

thanks

Yep - https://www.reglaze-glasses-direct.com/

Have used them a few times for single-prescription sunglass lenses and they've been good. However, now I have varifocal 'normal' glasses, I'm not sure, as my experience is that they have to be absolutely bob-on in terms of where the different focal areas of the lens are in relation to your eye. I'm not sure I'd like to do that mail order.

After a lot of experience with relensing oakleys and genunine oakleys (both me and the wife), I'd say go genuine. Some non-oakley lenses were *okay* but the genuine ones are on another level. Not worth the saving IMO.

Had oakley flaks with genuine and non genuine presription transition lenses for years.

As simian says, the genuine lenses are brilliant. But they are about 3 times the price of the reglaze direct ones! The latest reglaze direct ones don't stay as securely in the frame mind.

It probably depends on the complexity/strength of the prescription too. I've astigmatism in both eyes and my wife is quite short sighted. only oakley genuine lenses didn't give strange distortions or other issues.

I've had good experiences with RX Sport

https://www.rxsport.co.uk/

I've bought single vision Oakley glasses and sunglasses through them and just recently got some varifocal glasses. Not sure if they are any cheaper, but I can vouch for the service.

Got varifocal Oakleys from RXSport, and had good experiences with the company for many years. Doubt you'll get much cheaper if you go genuine, they're not much more than the trade + vat prices we used to get as a supplier.

Check out Extreme Eyewear ( https://www.extreme-eyewear.co.uk/ ), they were cheaper than RX for my Oakley varifocals with genuine lenses. Great service as well.

I've got two pairs of Crosswires(?) Crosslinks that I sent to Reglaze to be sorted - one set as sunnies, one clear. they've been my main riding / running / sailing glasses for about three or four years now and are absolutely fine. I've not tried the Oakley prescription lenses, but I'm quite short sighted and as I'm over the hump, my prescription is 'improving' by about .25 every couple of years. I've happily used the clear ones as day to day specs in the past as well. No difference in optic quality to my usual specs.

If you get Boots contacts on a monthly basis you get 50% of Oakleys from them

In everyday glasses I've found Essilor lenses are the best I've used. In sunglasses, 100% genuine Oakley lenses are orders of magnitude better than any others I've used, they just seem to get the curvature right that others haven't.

For me, they are worth the extra, no question.

I also use RXsport, have done since 2011 and in fact ordered a pair of glasses this afternoon.
