So it's about time I got with this whole CO2 thing, and looking at either the Control Drive or Trigger Drive as I'm a Lezyne fanboi
Anyone use either - looks like you just push the nozzle onto the tube valve and twist/push to control the flow of gas to inflate?
Any alternatives I should consider instead?
Whatever is the best price for 2 canisters and an inflator? The cheap one I've had for years does the job well enough

this one ^^^ £9.99 if you are near one of their stores
Decathlon.
Light, small, works, cheap
I was looking at the Lezyne control drive head too, I like the ability to 'save' Co2 for later and the ability to take different sized cartridges. And a threaded cartridge just seems a bit safer than a non threaded one, they're about £17 for 20x16g cartridges on amazon which should last aaaaages.
Something cheap, just the head and make sure you can thread cartridges onto it. Use gloves.
I use the top of that Genuine Innovations one. Fits into a pocket easy. The holder part is no use for larger cartridges and takes up space anyway. The nice thing is it has a lock on it so can use part of the cartridge and lock it off, then use more later, e.g. for a slow puncture. Eventually the rest will leak out but it's good for a ride, and sometimes holds for a few days.
Cartridges - co2cartridges.co.uk. 30 x 16g threaded carts for £17. The bigger the box, the cheaper it gets.
Innovations Microflate nano. Smallest, works every time. I have three in different packs. they’ve never let me down. Lezyne rip the valve heads off. Seen it a few times.
Tiny head makes more room for two cartridges. Screw in, press onto valve, unscrew a little and voila! 80 psi and ride away!!!
I've just bought one of these as they're tiny and don't cost much.
You can also screw it on to the cart without piercing it for easy storage.
The one Wilko sell for £8 with 2 cartridges is spot on. Does both valve types, is tiny and never leaks.
Ive seen it with posh packaging for double that in bike shops.
I've just ordered the CRC/Wiggle Lifeline one. Will see what its like whn it arrives.
Definitely the Lezyne control drive. Wiggle have them on special for 15 quid. Best inflator I’ve used by far. Plus a box of ten canisters from the bay for a tenner and you’re laughing.
Love my CO2 inflator and wouldn't be without it now but I get perpetually annoyed that the 25g threaded cartridges cost so much bloody money!
Anyone have any hints or tips on how to get them a bit cheaper?
The ones they sell in Halfords, Jet Valve have never let me down. Saying that I've used it once in nearly 3 years, tubeless everything innit
I have the Lezyne Trigger Speed Drive. It's awesome, and I like the way you can save a bit of CO2 for topping up later on if needed. Press-fit Presta connector too, so it doesn't unscrew the valve core afterwards. The head does get extremely cold though even with the neoprene sleeve around the cylinder. Do it with bare skin and you will get a freeze burn.
25 g are £2 each a Planet X. We bought quite a few at once and collected them when passing the store but I'm not sure collection is now an option
To save carrying both CO2 and a pump & just in case the CO2 canister doesn't do the trick, I think this is the best purchase I've ever made:

I think I got mine from EBay a little cheaper than that.
