Different airlines have different rules - probably worth checking.

I took a box full away last year, they removed half of them. (6)

Got called to the front of the queue and everything.

This year a friend of mine took a box away and they all got there.

I just had a couple.

Lugz

edit: easyjet to Geneva both times

I'd just buy new ones when I get there. Not worth the hassle

Not down to the airline. CO2 are on the banned list at most airports.

You might get away with it in the hold, but then again it can be embarrassing at least if not a load of hassle if you're dragged off the plain or prevented from boarding at the gate because they've found them.

I put two in my bag. First lady specifically asked if I had any, they clearly know what they're looking for. I denied all knowledge 😳

First lady started to ask me to remove them when the second lady told me that they've changed the rules and "they're allowed two of them things now".

Don't think it's airline specific, all the checks are done at the airport.

It does suck when the Giraffes are laughing at you as you're dragged off.

I had two in my bike bag which were spotted on check in at Manchester Terminal 3. The security bloke said it wasn't a problem, I just needed permission from the airline so off i went to the Ryanair desk.

The lad minding the desk didn't have a clue and couldn't track down a manager so I couldn't get written permission. He was a strange lad who appeared to be scared off them so I left them in the middle of his desk and asked him to dispose off them appropriately as I walked off.

My advice is to get written permission from the airline before you travel. An email should suffice.

I know a forum member who recently took some on an easyjet flight. The plane didn't blow up, if didn't get dragged off... That is all...

Aren't they small enough to drop down the seat tube?

The airline will publish their dangerous goods guidelines on their website. BA and EasyJet both allow 4 cylinders per person. I imagine other airlines are the same.

eg BA:

Obviously you need to tell the airline you've got them. Suggest you take them in hand luggage with a print-out of the airline's policy in case security get snotty.

Edit: I really, really, really wouldn't drop them down the seat tube. (a) what if it leaks and turns the seatpost into a cannon and (b) if spotted on x-ray you can count on not having your bike at the other end.
