Is it me or does there seem to be a shortage of reasonable priced Co2 cannisters at the moment?

I need 4 or 5 25 gram ones

The usual suspects Wiggle/CRC are out of stock of all their own brand ones and other brands as well

Tredz have none, Tweeks have pricey 16g ones

Co2catridges.co.uk

10 carts 3.95 free delivery. In-stock next day delivery.

No real shortage apparently.

Bike industry not supplying perhaps.

The Planet X Barbieri ones I got were completely useless. They didn’t puncture properly and the gas just pissed out inside the inflator. Worked fine with other cartridges.

We're not making enough CO2. Covid to blame because we've stopped making ethanol for cars.

Ebay, loads on. I just got 20x 16g for £22 delivered. As said planet X, postage is crazy.

The ethanol article doesn't surprise me - few people understand the complexity of the chemicals industry where a shortage of one feedstock (ethanol in this cae) begins to affect all kinds of other downstream derivatives. In 2018 there was a huge explosion at a BASF factory in Gemrnay and that caused ripples of shortages that reverberated for months through the armoa chemicals business, with many manufacturers being forced to declare force majeure.

One good effect is that the article says: "A shortage in CO2 would impact the US availability of fresh food, preserved food and beverages, including beer production.” That means Americans and Europiss drinkers will be forced to drink proper beer that contains natural CO2 from fermentation, not added in the can.

If anyone wants 15 of the 25g Lifeline ones and can pick up from Matlock they can take them off my hands. Can't offer any nasty carbonated lager though.

You should try getting hold off bags of plaster.
Normally £7 a bag now upwards of £30 and almost impossible to get

Co2catridges.co.uk have no 25 gram threaded ones

eBay also have very limited, very expensive 25 gram threaded cartridges

Think ill just chuck a pump on the bike until Wiggle/CRC have more stock
