Hi all (happ new year btw)....I have one of these fancy new clutch mech jobbies....I have read you can fine tune the strength of the clutch internally but does the lever position control clutch sensitivity too or is it purely an on / off switch?

Having only had a Zee apart, I'd say yes you technically sort of could do that. No idea how you'd keep the lever in any position other than on or off though.

This video shows how to do it: you need to take the cover off the clutch mechanism. You'll find a tool in there to make the adjustment:

The tool is not a part of the lower models (Zee, SLX). Apparently the warranty is also void if you open one, but you can still adjust it in the same way, just with a small wrench or pliers.
