Specialised Tricross clunking noise.
When I'm riding along I get a clunk, I think from the drive side. When I push down the right pedal with any force a very small delay after pushing it I get a clunk. At first it was now and again but now it is with most pedal strokes, but worse under a heavier load.
There is no lateral play in the cranks, they are nice and stiff so I think the bottom bracket is okay. I'm not sure where to start being a ham-fisted baboon. I suspect it's the cassette but want to limit the amount of things I take apart.
Any ideas?
Are you sure it's not your cadence? Otherwise look for a stiff chain link or freehub (sticking pawl/s?) probs would be my first ports of call...
Even if it feels ok (and they often do), i'd be checking the BB cups are tight in the frame, if they aren't then the fretting can easily take the frames threads out, quite an expensive job to repair.
Thanks
Also check that the pedal bodies aren't moving on the spindles.
sounds like a worn pedal to me
Wobbly freehub is my guess
House keys in your pocket !
Loose mech hanger bolt?
Bent chainring or a broken tooth?
It's not keys - the last time I went for a spin I was naked
😉
I'll try to fix it tonight and report back.
Could be something simple like rear wheel skewer not done up tight.
If it's only when you press the right pedal, then it's the pedal.
Swap pedals and report back!
