I am looking to find some policies on less well off (children particularly) and how your club goes about helping them with such things as loan bikes, discounted membership/kit and support to get to events or race fees.
Does anyone do this? I know one club that does, but no written policy...
How to you define and 'prove' the cases where some financial support would be helpful? How and when do you review the support offered?
What help is on offer?
Thoughts?

Good luck with this lot! 🙂
We don't have a policy but use discretion now and again when hiring bikes etc wrt charging. I'm not sure how you'd put a policy into play, wouldn't want people to produce paperwork personally. If you come up with something please share.
As a BMX club our session prices are low to encourage the local kids, we're now racing as a club which I realise puts a cost and time burden on people getting to venues having the right kit, again with discretion we'll make sure bikes and kit get to the venue to be used, but making this a regular option can put additional pressures on the club. Would like to explore further, all for being way more inclusive to get kids into cycling as a sport.
Yes good luck... I fell out with a bunch who caled themselves a club who gave the impression they were raising money (bucket shaking /ride events etc) for the sort if thing you describe. When they were really spending it on toys, training and resources to for their own intrests.
All that surplus kit in your bike cave? Well in our club it goes to those who might put a use to it. No policy to speak of. Frames, wheels, groupsets, clothing.
