Going to watch Hardline in Sept. Got tickets for the Sunday so looking to ride Saturday. I know they’re different in nature but I like both trail centre riding and big natural rides. My fitness level is good at mo and I’ll have 2 mates with me who will be on e-bikes. So.....if you had to pick one, which would it be?
Nant yr arian
When climbing was my main sport our general rule in good weather was: go to the crags that are in condition the least as you can go to the quick drying crags anytime.
Trail centres are pretty much all-weather so if Elan's dry I'd go to Elan.
What he said. The longest loop at Nant is exactly a route of trail centre trails and not-at-all-trail-centre riding.
Already ridden all trails at Nant y Arian. Wasn’t that taken with it tbh but each to their own. Was more interested in getting views on a loop of elan valley vs Mach-X (which supposedly has one of longest descents in Wales).
I did what MTB Wales listed as the Black Cottage route a few weeks ago. About 20 miles, 2.5k ft. Beautiful scenery. Mostly bridleway and double track, nothing technical, one rocky descent. Conditions were great other than the bit of track that leads up to the Claerwent Dam , which was pretty boggy in places. Glad I did it as it's a lovely bit of the world. But from what I can tell totally different to Climachx. I'd have happily gone there but it was a fair chunk more traveling. But I certainly don't regret the Elan Valley.
Why not do climachx with the some of the fine natural and unnatural riding of Dyfi attached to it,less travelling and more fun.Climachx final descent can be sessioned fairly easily for a bit of extra fun too
