Hello All,

How do I tell if my cleats are worn and need replacing? They look okay but they seem to be moving about a bit and making an annoying clicking noise.

Cheers

Generally if they move about and make a clicking noise they need replaced.

Is it more difficult to unclip now? Is there a lot of float where there was none? Are there shiny bits of metal where the pedal has worn away the cleat? If so, replace.

For Shimano: Harder to unclip when you want to. More float than you want and more inadvertent unclipping. Clicking etc just sounds like you need a bit of grease somewhere.

I don't know about other brands.

If they unclip inadvertently, try tightening up the pedals - if that doesn't do the trick then the cleats probably need replacing.

Cheers All,

I will try tightening the pedal and see if it makes a difference.

Have shimano changed their cleat material? I seem to have worn out my last couple of sets really quickly.
