This wasn't a problem, but something I have grown into over the last few years:
I've adjusted my cleats and put a 1mm wedge under both to eliminate a on-going issue with pins and needles in the outside of my feet when riding with SPD's. Also was getting upper knee pain.
I've tried new shoes (and gone up a size) and am confident it isn't the shoe. The 1mm wedge seems to have worked for the right foot, but has moved the left foot problem from the outside of the mid-foot to my little toe area. Shifting the cleats back a touch (so moving my foot forward) has eliminated the knee pain.
Before I mess on any further I was just wondering if anyone had experienced this and whet next? Another wedge? Move the cleat out/in/forward/back a bit? Something I'm missing?
I abandoned SPDs and switched to Time ATACS as they allowed my foot to float around a bit. It fixed my knee issues after months of fannying about trying to get SPDs correctly setup.
I have a lot of float in my SPD's and have pre-angled the cleats to allow my foot to sit more naturally where I want it, so don't think it is that. Knee pain is ok, now, as I say, just this pins and needles in the left foot under the little toe area.
Interested in this one. I get pins and needles on the road bike, also changed shoes for some with laces rather than straps. Tried different cleat positioning too and still get the pins and needles after 30 minutes or so.
Wondered if it was general old age\crap circulation. If I unclip and shift my foot about it seems to improve.
Good news, I seem to have found a cure...
Heat mouldable insoles! Had the idea last-night so popped them out of my hiking boots and into my cycling shoes.
Been out all day today and zero foot pain or aches! Gotta be worth a try if you've tried everything else.
