You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all,
OK, don't laugh...
Building up my new bike, most parts are new, bur got a second hand chain device (e.13 LG1+, in white), and while it's fairly clean, you can tell it's been used, plastic parts are a bit grubby, so figured I may as well try clean it up a bit.
Tried soaking it in soapy water and scrubbing, helped a little, but not much. Any other tips? Something a bit more aggressive than fairy liquid?
Ta, Duane.
Jif, Cif or whatever it's called these days
Try a degreaser - or a dishwasher
Noooooo, don't put it in the dishwasher - plastic will heat up and dirt will be forever ingrained once it cools down again. As legend says, Cif is best. Give it a wipe over with GT85 or similar first to remove the worst of the oily stuff then Cif on a bit of scotchbrite.
Cheers, Cif helped 🙂
There is a PVC cleaner that works well; I think is diluted acetone, so take care or it'll dissolve the lot.
Those domestic cream cleaners used to work well on white plastic mudguards.
All my stormtrooper friends swear by sugarsoap..or jiff/ciff 🙂
Scrolling past this thread, I could have sworn the title was 'Cleaning white plastic pants?' 😯
Gunk has been the most effective thing I've used. White spirit was alright.
Clit bang?
Plastic pants made me laugh
