Just got some second hand UST tyres that have been pre-gunked (possibly with latex glue) which has left a lovely dry mess inside.

Anyone got any suggestions on the best way to clean them out?

Cheers!

Lots of soapy water and a pan cleaner

As long as the beads are clear and there are no big lumps they'll be fine

very good question i tend to just leave them and add further gunk over the top.

the biggest problem is the gunk around the tyre bead which stops it from sealing properly.

Pan cleaner? Seriously? Doesn't that tear up the threads on the inside of the tyre?

I just rub it off by hand, it's slow but it works. Pan scourer does work but not as well in my experience.

Sit for an hour picking it off by hand, get fed up and bin it.

I peel most off then just scrub it with a brush, it is fairly tedious though

Looks like it's a night of soapy water and rubber for me then.

I use a wire pan scrubby thingy on Evo Schwalbe tyres, works fairly well. Works better on the bead, and do it with washing up liquid, you can usually pick it off the carcass if you're fairly careful, IME it's the easiest way.
